Paper products seize 14.4% of Egypt’s chemical exports in 2 months

Egypt’s paper products exports have rose 11 percent during January-February 2016 to record 530.6 million Egyptian pounds (US$59.7 million) versus 476.7 million pounds a year earlier. Hence, paper products seized 14.4 percent of Egyptian exports of chemical exports at this period.

According to the report released Saturday by Egyptian Chemical and Fertilizers Export Council’s (CEC), ten companies have captured 85.5 percent of Egyptian paper products exports by the end of February 2016 with exports worth 453.8 million pounds.

The report showed that Procter & Gamble was the largest exporter of paper products in January-February 2016 with exports estimated at 174.2 million pounds, getting 38 percent of sector’s total exports.

The second largest exporter of paper products was Hayat Egypt Hygienic Products S.A.E whose exports were estimated at 73.8 million pounds followed by Interstate Paper Industries Limited with exports estimated at 67.3 million pounds.

The report stated that Kenya has captured around 16 percent of Egyptian paper products exports by the end of February 2016 with exports worth 58.9 million pounds followed by Saudi Arabia whose exports reached 56.8 million pounds.

Pakistan has attained Egyptian exports of paper products estimated at 50.3 million pounds while Morocco got exports of 40.5 million pounds and Algeria whose exports recorded 36.3 million pounds, the report stated.
