The Egyptian Company for Solid Waste Recycling – ECARU, part of Qalaa Holdings, will supply alternative solid fuel to replace fossil fuels, notably coal, for cement companies in Ethiopia.

On the sidelines of the African international business forum – Africa 2016 hosted by Egypt, ECARU has signed Sunday a preliminary agreement with Ethiopia’s Messebo Cement Factory Private Limited Company on the supply of alternative solid fuel.

Additionally, the Egyptian company has also signed a five-year memorandum of understanding with Ethiopia’s East African Mining to establish a new joint venture.

Hisham Sherif – CEO of ECARU said the alternative solid fuel is one of the renewable energy resources since it is extracted from agricultural wastes.

The agreements were signed by Hisham Sherif – CEO of ECARU; and Basso Sodere – Executive Director of East African Mining (EAM).

Egypt has been hosting between 20th and 21st February Africa 2016, the first international business and investment forum of its kind, an Africa to Africa investment forum aimed at strengthening business ties within Africa, both at a business and presidential level.
