Egypt’s exports to the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), excluding the Nile Basin states, rose in May to US$5.762 million, according to state-run statistics agency CAPMAS.

In its monthly bulletin, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reported Wednesday that Egypt’s imports from the COMESA countries also surged in May this year to US$22.170 million, compared to US$6.264 million a year earlier.
The COMESA includes 20 countries; Egypt, Libya, Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, Burundi, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and South Sudan.
