Egypt and the UAE signed a deal Tuesday for several development projects that will be provided to Egypt by the Gulf state in the fields of education, transportation, and health, state news agency MENA reported.

Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab witnessed the signing of four cooperation protocols.

The projects include 100 schools to be established across rural and remote areas in 17 governorates at a cost of 550 million Egyptian pounds (approximately US$72 million).

The deals, funded by a UAE grant worth $4.9 billion and aimed at providing 900,000 job opportunities, also include the delivery of 600 public transportation buses, 78 nationwide medical facilities, as well as the development of four rail crossings.

“We are pleased to deliver these projects in line with the timeframe and objectives to provide positive economic and social solutions,” UAE Minister of State and Head of the UAE/Egypt Liason Office in Egypt, Sultan Ahmed Al-Gaber, was quoted by MENA as saying.
