Federation of Industries Announces New Unit to Support Egypt Businesswomen

by Yomna Yasser

Egypt’s Federation of Industries (FEI) will establish a new unit in support of the Egyptian businesswomen, said chairman Mohamed El-Sewedy.

During FEI’s conference held on Tuesday to support businesswomen in Egypt, El-Sewedy stated that the new unit would be established in cooperation with the International Labour Organization (ILO) of the United Nations.

The ILO has provided the Egyptian federation with the technical support needed to establish and manage the new unit, he noted.

The Egyptian official further pointed out that the new unit aims to organise training programmes to raise the awareness about the importance of women’s participation in the business communities and decision making process.

The unit is also set to conduct a number of field studies on the major obstacles facing the businesswomen in Egypt.

The FEI was first established in 1922 and today it overlooks the operations and tackles the barriers facing the entire Industrial Sector. This is achieved through 16 dynamic, highly active Chambers and 12 Decision Support Committees that are constantly developing programs and services to facilitate and support the various industries within Egypt.

The FEI is home to 16 Industrial Chambers that represent the most active sectors within the Egyptian Business Community.
