Egypt’s vital waterway Suez Canal witnessed on Sunday the crossing of 44 ships at weight of 2.202 million tons.
13 ships have passed through the Suez Canal coming from the North at weight of 528.261 thousand tons.
The biggest ship coming from the north was UK container ship CMA CGM Erving at weight of 146 thousand tons.
Meanwhile, the number of ships passing through the Suez Canal coming from the south hit 31 at weight of 1.674 million. The biggest ship coming from the south was Singapore’s container ship APL Vanda at weight of 159 thousand tons.
The canal is one of Egypt’s main sources of foreign revenue. Revenues hit $438.1m in May after 1,431 vessels crossed the waterway carrying a combined cargo of 79.7 million tons.
