Egypt’s vital waterway Suez Canal witnessed on Thursday the crossing of 45 ships at weight of 2.398 million tons.
22 ships have passed through the Suez Canal coming from the North at weight of 1.308 million tons.
The biggest ship coming from the north was Hong Kong’s container ship CSCL Venus at weight of 157 thousand tons.
Meanwhile, the number of ships passing through the Suez Canal coming from the south hit 23 at weight of 1.090 million. The biggest ship coming from the south was Panama’s container ship MSC Aurora at weight of 149 thousand tons.
The canal is one of Egypt’s main sources of foreign revenue. Revenues hit $438.1m in May after 1,431 vessels crossed the waterway carrying a combined cargo of 79.7m tons.
