Egypt’s vital waterway Suez Canal witnessed on Sunday the crossing of 46 ships at weight of 2.647 million tons.
22 ships have passed through the Suez Canal coming from the North at weight of 1.263 million tons.
The biggest ship coming from the north was LNG tanker Marshall Islands’ Al Oraiq at weight of 140 thousand tons.
Meanwhile, the number of ships passing through the Suez Canal coming from the south hit 24 at weight of 1.384 million. The biggest ship coming from the south was France’s container ship CMA CGM Amerigo Vespucci at weight of 163 thousand tons.
The canal is one of Egypt’s main sources of foreign revenue. Revenues hit $438.1m in May after 1,431 vessels crossed the waterway carrying a combined cargo of 79.7m tons.
