Egypt, Istanbul Sign MoU On Developing Transport In Cairo

Ragab Moussa, Assistant Minister of Transport, has asserted that a memorandum of understanding between Istanbul’s municipality in Turkey and the recently-constructed Urban Transport Center, at the Egyptian Ministry of Transport,   was signed at the aim of developing the system of transport in Cairo.

The agreement aims to make use of the experience of Istanbul’s municipality over dealing with the traffic jam, whether controlling the traffic in the intersections or using the metrobuses on main streets; leading to decreasing the number of the cars, as to 80000non in a day in return for 560 buses, as one metrobus can transfer 180 passengers in a separate lane.

During a visit to Turkey, Moussa had a tour in the factories that manufacture the carriages of trains  to recognize their capabilities and determine the cooperation fields especially the ministry is about to take a final decision  over the offer of the Chinese companies of supplying Egypt’s railways with carriages.

On the other hand, Moussa pointed out to his participation in the functions of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) conference, which was held in Amman, Jordan.  

The Assistant Minister of Transport topped Egypt’s delegation in the ministerial meeting in which a number of representatives of transport ministries in Europe, Asia and Africa attended. They agreed on the necessity of removing the obstacles that hinders the inter-regional trade of roads.
