by Nada Ali

Egypt’s Minister of Manpower and Norwegian renewables firm Scatec are discussing ways of co-operation to build a solar power plant for the operation of Naga Hammadi Aluminum Factory, according to the cabinet’s statement on Thursday.

The new solar plant is expected to be built over two phases with a capacity of 500 megawatts per hour (MWh) for each and a total capacity of 1GWh, as stated in the statement.

The first phase is expected to be completed within 18 months and the second phase in 24 months, in coordination with the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy through a tripartite agreement.
