USEBC Weighs Boosting Egypt’s Exports To US

On Tuesday morning, the US Egypt Business Council (USEBC) convened it first official meeting in the presence of the Egyptian Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade, Eng. Hatem Saleh. Amwal Al Ghad was informed that the council, headed by Dr Hany Kesees, will review the action plan, which targets boosting the Egyptian exports to the USA to $ 7 billion with two years.

A study, prepared by the council, has revealed that (USEBC) will continue the work of the former council. The study, which will be delivered today to the Minister of Industry, focused on 7 main sectors; they are the textile exports, furnishing exports, tourism, engineering industries, information technology, chemical industries and medications.

The study elaborated that the successful experience of textile, furnishings and ready-made garments exports, which reach $ 1 billion annually, is a great incentives for other sectors, like the fertilizers and chemical industries that have a whipping market in Europe and Asia, and able to enter the US market.

It suggested, during the convened meeting today, the possibility of opening the US market for the Egyptian medications. The matter which will take much time but it is possible.
