Türkiye ready to take cancer patients from Turkish Palestinian Hospital

by Nada Ali

Türkiye will receive around 1,000 cancer patients from Gaza’s Turkish-Palestinian Friendship hospital and injured civilians needing urgent treatment, in coordination with Egypt, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said on Sunday.

For his side, Egypt’s Minster of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said that his country has a large capacity to accommodate these patients, and the resources of the Egyptian state are available to handle all cases coming from Gaza.

This announcement came after a phone call between Abdel Ghaffar and Koca as they plan to transfer cancer patients and those in critical condition Türkiye via air ambulances and an hospital ship, the statement added.

Türkiye has so far sent more than 200 tons of humanitarian aid and a team of medical personnel to Egypt for Gazans, while also offering to set up a field hospital near the Rafah border crossing.

It is worth mentioning that Israeli jets targeted the third floor of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital in Gaza, the blockaded enclave’s only hospital for cancer patients in October 30th.
