Egypt’s tourism sector revenues for the fiscal year 2022-2023 reached $13.6 billion and surpassed its pre-COVID-19 numbers.
Egypt witnessed a revenue increase by 26.8 percent over the previous year’s figure of $10.7 billion, according to data from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
The data also showed that tourists number rose by 35.6 percent over the same period, to reach around 13.9 million.
According to local press, the number of nights spent by tourists in the country climbed by 27.6 percent, to reach 146.1 million nights in this fiscal year.
In September, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, told AP news that Egypt welcomed ten million tourists during the first eight months of this year.
This will allow Egypt to achieve its goal of welcoming 15 million visitors in 2023.
The country has now set a target of attracting 30 million tourists by 2028, as well as drawing in tourism investments and expanding its hotel pipeline.
