Egypt’s Prime Minister, Moustafa Madbouly, met with Sherif Sedky, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency, who said the Egypt Sat (2) will be launched this October from the launch station in the People’s Republic of China.

Sedky noted on Tuesday that the satellite is working towards achieving a number of sustainable development goals, illustrating the extent of utilisation achieved by the agency.

The statement highlighted the Egyptian agency’s plan to establish a constellation of satellites that will contribute to strengthening Egypt’s leading role in Africa’s space technology and science fields.

As well as activating the role of the African Space Agency through the participation of various African States in a space project that serves the African Development Goals 2063, the statement mentioned.

However, the meeting discussed the near-term space missions (2022–2025) of the agency and the experimental satellite NixSat (1), which arrived in May 2023 after the successful completion of all tests in Germany.
