French Investments In Egypt Record €3.9 bln In 2012

The French investments inside the Egyptian market reached € 3.9 billion during the first 6 months of 2012, said Hassan Behnam, Director of UBIFRANCE, the French Agency for International Business Development.

Behnam told Amwal Al Ghad that the agency keened on keeping the French investments in the Egyptian market in the wake of the revolution; mentioning that the number of the French companies in Egypt reached 118, operating in the fields of air and maritime transport, communications, food chains, chemical industries, environment, energy, healthy preparations and agriculture. These French companies employ about 42.000 Egyptians.

The number of the French companies in Egypt before the revolution was 108 ones, while the number after the revolution increased to reach 118. Some companies and French investments expanded in the Egyptian market.

Behnam said the French government supports the transitional period in Egypt, whether politically or economically; adding that the French Agency for International Business Development granted € 300 million, included in the aids of the EU and the European bank, to develop Cairo metro.
