Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev awarded Egypt’s Azhar Grand imam Ahmed el Tayyeb the Astana International Prize on Wednesday.
He was awarded for his contribution in the sector of religions dialogue and spreading the religious culture and world peace.
This came during the seventh Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
This held under the framework of “role of religious leaders in spiritual and social development for humanity after COVID 19”.
The event was attended by a number of political and religion leaders.
“I am pleased to award the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar the International Prize of Astana for his efforts in interfaith dialogue and the promotion of a culture and tolerance among different cultures and ethnicities,” Kassym Jomart highlighted.
