Egypt’s central bank governor Tarek Amer has resigned on Wednesday and has been appointed as advisor to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Amer’s resignation came after a few days the Egyptian parliament approved a cabinet reshuffle, which included 13 ministers.
The first deputy governor Gamal Negm said Amer’s term should have ended in November next year.
Amer has assumed his duties as governor of the CBE upon the President’s decision in November 2015.
