France is keen to encourage more investments in Egypt, aiming to boost bilateral strategic cooperation and provide the North African country with the most up-to-date technologies, said minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire on Friday.

Le Maire, who met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi ahead of the Paris Conference on Libya, said his country is encouraging French companies to invest in Egypt within the framework of driving the development process in Egypt.

The minister lauded recent measures adopted by the Egyptian government to create an attractive climate for foreign investments, including facilitating government procedures and licences related to investment, and encouraging the private sector to participate in many projects.

France has sizable investments in Egypt, with around 160 French companies operating in the North African country in various fields.

The volume of French investments in Egypt exceeds €5 billion ($5.7 billion), according to the French Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.
