Bilateral trade between Egypt, Japan grows to $1.3bn in 2020

Trade exchange between Egypt and Japan grew by 22 percent year-on-year (YoY) to $1.3 billion during 2020, despite coronavirus pandemic, according to Ibrahim El-Araby, Chairman of Egypt-Japan Business Council.

El-Araby, who is also chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, also said on Thursday, that over the course of the year, Egypt’s exports to the Japanese market surged by 117 percent, while the country’s imports from Japan rose by 5 percent.

The Egyptian official made his remarks during the roundtable held by Egypt-Japan Business Council in Cairo.
