Egypt’s Hurghada receives 1st Swiss flag carrier flight since coronavirus pandemic

Hurghada International Airport received on Sunday the first flight by Swiss International Air Lines, Switzerland’s flag carrier, since Egypt resumed international flights in July after a three months hiatus due to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

The plane had 127 people on board, according to Egyptian state-run news agency MENA.

A team from the airport received the visitors with flowers and officials facilitated the passengers’ arrival procedures.

The procedures were finalised amid strict preventive measures against the coronavirus to ensure the safety of the passengers and airport staff.

Travellers who did not provide negative PCR tests upon arrival at Hurghada Airport were tested before they could enter the Red Sea city.

Egypt resumed international flights to and from all its airports in July after a four-month suspension due to the pandemic.
