Japan lifts 25-year ban on imports of Egyptian citrus

Japan has lifted a ban on imports of Egyptian citrus that was imposed over 25 years, its Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries agreed on Monday.

The move came after negotiations between Egyptian and Japanese authorities over the last two years, according to Egypt’s Ambassador to Tokyo, Ayman Kamel.

A committee consisted of experts from the two countries has been formed to discuss the conditions of opening the Japanese market to Egyptian citrus, Kamel said in a statement on Monday.
