Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi instructed the government on Monday to grant temporary licenses for all unlicensed nurseries across Egypt until they legalise their status.

President El-Sisi’s gave the directives during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Social Solidarity Minister Nevine Al-Qabbaj, and Presidential Adviser for Financial Affairs Mohamed Amin.

The meeting reviewed the social solidarity ministry’s activities in the fields of supporting nurseries, social education, and supporting irregular labour.

Meanwhile, Al-Qabbaj reviewed the situation of licensed nurseries, which are estimated at 14,000 nationwide, as well as the ministry’s plan to deal with 10,000 unlicensed nurseries.

Al-Qabbaj also briefed the president on efforts exerted to develop nurseries, establish new ones in villages and new urban areas, and establish more nurseries that take care of children with disabilities.

The minister also reviewed efforts to maximise educational opportunities within the framework of the social education offered to groups benefiting from social protection programs, in addition to the ministry’s efforts to increase equal educational opportunities in elementary stage for students of families backed by the Takaful and Karama (Solidarity and Dignity) Program.
