Russia’s state nuclear energy company Rosatom announced on Wednesday a positive coronavirus case among staff at the Egyptian branch of its engineering division.
Director General of Rosatom State Corporation A.E. Likhachev revealed a number of cases at Rosatom’s foreign construction sites in a video message to employees.
“There is one case of infection of an employee of the Egyptian ASE branch in Cairo,” Likhachev said, adding that cases have also been detected at the company’s Belarusian site.
He called the situation “controlled, but requiring utmost attention,” according to Rosatom’s statement.
Rosatom is building Egypt’s first-ever nuclear power plant at Dabaa on the Mediterranean coast, according to an agreement signed between Cairo and Moscow in 2015.
