ACWA Power, the leading company in power and water desalination, has donated 5.5 million Egyptian pounds ($349,107) to support Egypt’s efforts to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, said its regional director Hassan Amin.
The donation will be directed to Tahya Misr Fund to buy ventilators and RT-PCR detection kits to increase the testing capacity for COVID-19 across Egypt, Amin added.
Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly received on Saturday a letter from ACWA Power’s official, who commended the country’s profound efforts and precautionary measures to curb the spread of the pandemic under the directives of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
ACWA Power’s contribution represents its firm commitment to its social responsibility towards Egyptian communities through a number of steps to provide the required support for the healthcare sector in fighting the virus, Amin added.
