Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) says it plans to establish a rail plant in East Port Said in cooperation with Egypt’s sovereign wealth fund Tharaa and the private sector.
The plant will be built in the East Port Said Port and Industrial Development Complex, SCZone chairman Yehia Zaki said on Wednesday.
The complex is expected to be Egypt’s foremost transhipment hub and trade-oriented gateway.
East Port Said Port has a distinguished location east of the northern entrance of the Suez Canal, at the confluence of three continents, and at the crossroad of the most important world sea trade route between the east and the west.
