Egypt’s vital waterway Suez Canal witnessed on Wednesday the crossing of 46 ships at weight of 2.935 million tons.
27 ships have passed through the Suez Canal coming from the North at weight of 1.468 million tons.
The biggest ship coming from the north was Isle of Man’s container ship ‘Hanjin America’ at weight of 146 thousand tons.
Meanwhile, the number of ships passing through the Suez Canal coming from the south hit 21 at weight of 1.467 million. The biggest ship coming from the south was Panama’s container ship ‘Msc Emanuela’ at weight of 156 thousand tons.
The canal is one of Egypt’s main sources of foreign revenue. Revenues hit $438.1m in May after 1,431 vessels crossed the waterway carrying a combined cargo of 79.7m tons.
