Three Egyptian construction companies are preparing to inaugurate the first phase of works on a commercial and entertainment area in New Alamein City before the end of this summer, a source said on Monday.
Property developer Dorra Group, National Construction Co- Samco, and Redcon Construction will open the first phase at a cost of 1.6 billion Egyptian pounds ($97 million), the official source from one of these companies added.
This come as part of the Egyptian government’s plan to operate all educational and services projects in New Alamein for accommodations available all year round in the city, he told Amwal Al Ghad.
“One of the national construction companies are responsible for executing the infrastructure works of the commercial and entertainment area that is to include some restaurants, cafes, banks, and commercial malls,” the source said.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi last March inaugurated New Alamein city, northwest of Cairo, on a space of 48,000 feddans, at a cost worth 2 billion Egyptian pounds ($111,7 million).
New Alamein is one of the fourth generation cities being built in Egypt in some of the most up-to-date architectural styles, and is scheduled to be finalised in one-year timeframe.
The anticipated city is planned to have universities and schools as well as various services and tourist activities. It is expected to accommodate 400,000 populations.
