World Bank Pumps $500 mln to Finance Microenterprises in Egypt

A high-profile delegation from the World Bank (WB) has visited a number of projects being implemented by the Social Fund for Development (SFD), pumping US$ 500 million to support the microenterprises in Egypt.

This comes within the framework of the recently-signed agreements between the World Bank and the SFD; the ‘Emergency Labor Intensive Investment Project’ a WB-supported with US$ 200 million and the ‘Micro and Small Enterprises Development for Inclusive Growth Project’ a WB-supported with US$ 300 million.

During the visit, SFD General Secretary Ghada Wali alongside a group of SFD leaderships have accompanied the World Bank delegation which has included WB Executive Director Mirza Hasan and Hartwig Schafer – WB’s Country Director for Egypt, Yemen and Djibouti as well as a number of high-profile officials in the WB.
