Twitter’s tech issues hit thousands of users

by Sama Mousa

Twitter users have reported problems accessing links from the social media platform and other websites on Monday, before the Elon Musk-owned company said it had fixed the latest in a series of outages.

The company said “some parts of Twitter may not be working as expected right now. We made an internal change that had some unintended consequences. We’re working on this now and will share an update when it’s fixed.”

Musk also tweeted saying “This platform is so brittle (sigh). Will be fixed shortly.” Twitter engineers have been warning recently of a risk of a crash in the platform, specifically after Musk fired a number of employees who were working to keep the platform running.

Now over two-thirds of the San Francisco Company’s engineers are gone since Musk took charge. In November, engineers who worked previously in Twitter warned of a bumpy road to the company.

Engineers do not anticipate a collapse in the very near future, however, they say that Twitter might become very rough at the edges if the Musk makes major changes without prior testing.
