Twitter goes down as Ron DeSantis announces his US presidential run

Twitter crashed during a highly anticipated live audio conversation between Elon Musk and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Wednesday.

The app frequently crashed, making it difficult for the politician to declare his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination.

Numerous engineers in charge of correcting software flaws have been among the thousands of workers Musk has let go since he assumed control of the social media network in October.

Current and former Twitter employees have told Reuters that the abrupt layoffs would increase the likelihood that the website will breakdown during periods of heavy usage.

“We’ve got so many people here that I think we are kind of melting the servers, which is a good sign,” said David Sacks, a venture capitalist and close friend of Musk, on Wednesday.

According to Musk, the issues were caused by the volume of listeners and his sizable Twitter following.

A total of 678,000 people listened in while Twitter crashed repeatedly.

President of the United States Joe Biden made fun of DeSantis’ poor start to his presidential campaign on Wednesday by tweeting a fundraising plea with the words, “This link works.”
