TRA Participating In A Special Seminar On International Regulations By SAMENA Telecommunication Council

Within the framework of the ongoing preparations by the State for the effective preparation of the World Conference of the international telecommunication hosted by the State represented by the telecommunications regulatory authority in Dubai in the period from (3 to 14 December 2012) for the first time in the Middle East, the TRA delegation participated in the seminar on international telecommunication regulations and hosted by Samina telecommunication Council for a day on 17 September 2012.

It is worth mentioning that this seminar is important where they participated in addition to a senior delegation from TRA each of the task forces in respect of telecommunications regulations of Samina Council and Samina Policy Council, some members and representatives of local telecom companies in the UAE (Etisalat and Du), companies’ regional representatives, authorized network providers in the region, representatives of some regional and international organizations and other stakeholders and dignitaries.

The agenda of the seminar concentrated heavily on negotiating the views on the proposals submitted to the day for the International Telecommunication Regulations. HE Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, commented saying: this seminar which was organized by SAMENA Telecommunications Council is a very good step in order to identify points of view on the documents and proposals submitted to the World Conference on International Telecommunications, hosted in Dubai by the end of this year. He added: everyone knows and understands the importance of this international communications regulations due to the urgent need to update and review them at the next conference in Dubai. It is considered as one of the most important international treaties which the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is based, constituting the foundations of its duties, developing the general principles relating to the provision and operation of international communications, facilitating international connectivity, Interoperability, supporting the coordinated development and effective operation of the technical facilities and enhancing the efficiency, usefulness and availability of international telecommunications services.

His Excellency ensure that this seminar organized by the Council of Samina is a great opportunity in increasing cooperation between the concerned parties and at the regional and international levels, identifying the diverse views towards these important regulations if possible before going to Conference. The Chairman of the Arab Group engineer Tarek al-Awadhi gave Authority speech on this side and on a detailed presentation on the latest developments in this aspect at the Gulf, Arab and Arabic standard and attitudes of Arab meeting to prepare for the last Conference held last week in Dubai and current developments by ITU.

The Seminar has allocated an open area to dialogue between the parties concerned during which some discussions and learn about these proposals and views of stakeholders involved about themes and important aspects of the following:

The convergence of telecommunications and information technology

The right of public to get international telecommunications services

Interconnection and interoperability and quality of services

Fees & accounting

Information security

Communication in emergencies and disasters and crises

Resource protection, numbers, national titles against misuse

The fight against fraud and misleading messages and spam

In conclusion, the TRA commended the well organizing of the Board of Samina Council to this Seminar meticulous them all would serve the communications sector at local, regional and international levels and its next Conference also good results on these important regulations and more convergence of views regarding.

And there care to provide all what serve the telecommunications sector at the local, regional and international levels, and also there keenness to get the next conference with a good results regarding important regulations and gathering point of views.
