The Egyptian Ministry of Public Business Sector signed a protocol of cooperation with Egypt Telecom to implement the telecommunications infrastructure of the digital transformation project.
Under the protocol, Egypt Telecom will provide high-speed internet and connection services to the companies affiliated to the public business sector ministry through fibre-optic cables, according to a statement on Wednesday,
The two-year renewable protocol supports the ministry’s efforts towards implementing its digital transformation programme, the largest in the Middle East, minister of public business sector Hesham Tawfik said.
The programme includes planning and managing resources of 63 holding companies and subsidiaries in the first phase with investments of $50 million for licensing and an annual $3 million for data management and technical support.
The minister of communications and information technology Amr Talaat said that all government premises spread across all governorates will be connected via optical fibres over a period of 36 months at a total cost of EGP 6 billion.
