Telecom Egypt to Provide ADSL for 11 Governmental Entities

by Noha Gad

Landline monopoly Telecom Egypt (TE) announced on Saturday that it intends to provide ADSL and boost key infrastructure for 11 governmental entities. This step comes as part of the national broadband project initiated by the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA), of which TE was awarded its tender.

The Egyptian Cabinet adopted the national plan of broadband as an ICT sector initiative. The initiative serves state sectors and bodies to answer the citizens’ needs at affordable prices. It encourages national and international investments within the free competition environment and creates jobs for youth, thus, increasing the national income.

TE leverages infrastructure and provides ADSL for 11 governmental entities including ministries of scientific research, education, agriculture, youth, health, civil aviation, justice, manpower, irrigation and water resources in addition to the public prosecutions nationwide and the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.

TE is expected to sign the agreements within the coming days.
