Tatweer Misr, the Egyptian leading real estate developer, hosted the final round of its annual Innovation Competition for 2018 during a ceremony attended by its top management and executive committee.
In collaboration with Ahead of the Curve, a social business dedicated to the promotion of sustainable management practice, all finalists pitched their innovative ventures to an eight-judges panel headed by Ahmed Shalaby, chief executive of Tatweer Misr.
Also, sitting on the panel were Baher Ayoub, chief projects officer of Tatweer Misr; Ahmed Osman, senior vice president at the International Council for Small Business (ICSB); Mohamed Tarek, business development director at CCC Egypt and Africa; Sherif Seif El Nasr, marketing and sales consultant of Tatweer Misr; Aida Kabil, marketing director of Tatweer Misr; Nada Hesham, managing director at Brand Bureau; and Hanzada Abo Youssef, senior advisor at Ahead of the Curve
Since its inception, Tatweer Misr has valued entrepreneurship and innovation and considered them the pillars of its community programs sponsoring a wide number of initiatives including its annual innovation competition. Thus, and in line with the company’s strategy to develop new entrepreneurial mindset in the Egyptian business society, Tatweer Misr continued its initiative to hold its annual Innovation Competition. Such competition offers youth the opportunity to be exposed to the business market, express their ideas, and provide them with the training needed for their development, in addition to providing Tatweer Misr the chance to explore the ideas proposed and determine how it can best support and develop those young contestants. “Innovation represents an integral part of our DNA at Tatweer Misr and is one of the founding values of our company which we have had a solid commitment to since day one,” said Shalaby, Tatweer Misr chief executive and managing director.
Since the announcement of the competition during the last Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) that took place in November 2017, diverse applicants from marketing and architectural engineering background have applied their innovative and very promising ideas. Ten finalists were selected to continue pitching for the final round, where six finalists pitched their architectural engineering ideas and the remaining four proposed their potential marketing campaigns to be applied for “Bloomfeilds”; Tatweer Misr’s latest launched project in Cairo. Given this year’s fierce competition, all judges have agreed to choose two winners from each category to receive a certificate and three of them to have the opportunity to participate in a one-week entrepreneurship training in Sharjah, UAE, while the fourth will be working on a project basis with Tatweer Misr to apply her pitched competition idea. The winners of the marketing category were Sandra Hany and Heba Nowar, while the winners of the engineering category were Dina El Mahdy and Radwa Rostom.
Shalaby congratulated the winners saying “I would like to congratulate today’s winners and thank each and every one who applied and participated in the competition, whether they managed to make it to the finals or not”. Shalaby praised the applicant’s ambition and innovative, yet out-of-the-box thinking approach saying, “I believe that all today’s participants are winners and that all their ideas deserve to be taken to the next level because they don’t only add value to Tatweer Misr and its values but also to Egypt’s real estate industry as a whole”.
Tatweer Misr has always believed in empowering young entrepreneurs by adopting their creative and innovative ideas, as well as partnering with them in order to achieve the company’s foremost objective which is changing the hearts and minds of Egyptians to see how entrepreneurship can transform societies for the better. For Tatweer Misr, the Innovation competition is only the start and it will keep working on different initiatives aiming at empowering all Egyptian youth operating in diverse fields.
