by Aya El Sayed

U.S. Time magazine has included UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Sultan Al Jaber in its list of the 100 Business Leaders Who Are Driving the Climate Action in 2023.

Al Jaber holds various positions in the climate sector as the CEO of ADNOC, the co-founder of renewable-energy company Masdar, and the president of the COP28 climate conference in Dubai.

Sultan Al Jaber, the COP28 President-Designate, will have the responsibility of leading the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai from November 30 to December 12.

The world will be looking to him closely as he tries to push governments to increase their efforts to combat global warming. The COP28 negotiations are crucial for defining the strategy for how to tackle climate change for the rest of the decade.

Notably, Masdar runs renewable energy projects in more than 40 countries across six continents with a clean energy capacity of over 20 GW.

On Thursday, Masdar, and its partners TAQA, EDF Renewables and Jinko Power, together with the water and electricity supplier EWEC, opened the largest solar power plant in the world at a single site.
