Stocks Mixed at Midday, EGX30 Falls 6%

Egypt’s bourse incurred losses worth 796 million Egyptian pounds during midday session on Thursday driven by foreign investors’ selling pressures. In return, the country’s main stock index, EGX30 fell at midday trade below 9690 points.

Meanwhile, the EGX indices were wavering on mixed notes during the midday session of Thursday.

The Benchmark EGX30 tumbled by 0.57% to 9689.94 p, and EGX20 dropped by 0.31% to 11379.73 p.

In the contrary, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 increased by 0.51% to 643.4 p. Also, the Price index EGX100 rose by 0.30% to 1173.7 p.

Furthermore, market capitalization reached EGP 527.176 billion, according to data compiled by Amwal Al Ghad English at 12:41 p.m. Cairo time (10:41 GMT).

Trading Volumes & Values

The trading volume has recorded 42.898 million securities worth EGP 216.081 million, exchanged through 9963 transactions during Thursday midday.

Also during the midday session, 138 listed securities have been traded in; 38 fell, 81 advanced; while 19 keeping their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab and the non-Arab foreign investors were net sellers during midday trade seizing 5.05% and 20.35% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 4.594 million and EGP 31.530 million, excluding the deals.

On the other hand, local investors were net buyers capturing 74.6% of the total market, with a net equity of EGP 36.125 million, excluding the deals.
