Siemens braces for more Support for Egypt Electricity Sector

German industrial group Siemens is seeking to pump more investments to support the Egyptian electricity sector.

The remarks made during a meeting on Monday between Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab with Siemens’ regional director for Middle East and its Power Generation division chief in the presence of Egypt’s Minister of Electricity.

From his part, Egypt’s Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker noted that Siemens is taking part in the ministry’s power emergency plan to fill the necessary needs in the upcoming phase, pointing out that works on electricity generation stations are in progress.

Shaker also added that his ministry would prepare for signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Siemens to boost cooperation in number of promising fields in Egypt.

On other side, Siemens’ regional director clarified that his company is ready to take part in the Egyptian ministry’s plan to convert power plant operations to function with a combined-cycle system so as to increase energy production capacity.

Siemens aims to pump more investments into Egyptian electricity sector, the regional director noted. The German group intends also to sign contracts to build a factory to generate electricity through different energy sources in the light of the fact that Egypt enjoys industrial capability in such sector.

The German industrial group has considerable experience in different power plants field which is based on merging energy whether through constructing, operating, and maintaining.
