Saudi Govt Project Wins Top IT Award

by Amwal Al Ghad English

The Saudi Arabian Government’s Holy Makkah Municipality (HMM) has been recognised with a 2012 “Honorary Recognition Award” by the international IT architecture firm iCMG for its new e-Government initiatives.

Omnix International, a leading IT solutions provider, partnered with international IT solution provider Oracle corporation to provide a best-in-class e-Government solution for HMM’s municipal operations, which employs more than 3000 professionals.

The solution services more than 30 different business applications which range from issuing construction licenses, land and urban planning, digging permits, field inspection, shop permits as well as managing the municipality’s financial and human resources and payroll processes among others.

A single public portal now enables citizens and third parties to make online applications for the above services and underpins HMM’s strategy to make government services and employees more efficient and cost effective.

Omnix International’s founder and president Jamal Abu Issa said: “We have a proven track record of successful Oracle Siebel implementations across the Middle East supported by our large team of Arabic speaking consultants who fully understand e-Government.”

“We have worked closely with the Holy Makah Municipality to understand its specific business and subsequently have delivered best-in-class IT solutions and training, which have dramatically improved HMM’s business efficiencies across its multiple departments,” he added.
