Samsung Seizes 60% of Egyptian Smart Phones Revenues In 2012

Samsung has acquired 60% of the Egyptian smart phones market’s total revenues in 2012.

Sherif Barakat, Head of Division at Samsung Mobile Egypt, said the company has seized 50% of the smart phones sales in 2012 in which the volume of revenues reached 60% of the Egyptian market’s total sales.

Samsung was ranked first for the volume of sales for the regular and smart phones which hit 43.2% of the total cell phone sales in Egypt, Barakat noted during a press conference convened on Wednesday.

Moreover, he stated that Samsung’s Beni Suef plant began the process of hiring at the end of 2012, pointing out that it will begin producing and collecting the screens within the coming months.

He added that Samsung is trying to adapt with the change in the exchange rates with the cooperation of the governorate so as to launch products that would meet with clients’ needs. Samsung will be launching a new version of the smart phone with starting prices of EGP 400.
