Medhat Khalil, Chairman and CEO at Egyptian IT firm Raya Holding, announced on Tuesday that he was named as new Chairman of Smart Villages Development and Management Company.
Khalil will take over from Adel Danish, who is leaving Smart Villages Company.
Khalil added to Amwal Al Ghad that the board of directors is looking currently to appoint a top-notch real estate expert as a managing director to help develop the Smart Village’s strategic vision.
Medhat Khalil has dedicated his career to realizing a vision: Raya Holding. After 15 years holding top management positions with IBM Egypt, Khalil founded the pioneering IT companies Protech and Oratech in 1993 and 1997 respectively. In 1998, Protech and Oratech became two of the seven entities comprising Raya Holding. Medhat Khalil is a member of the National Sports Council, board member in the National Fund for Finance of Juniors, Youth, and Sports.
He further asserted that Smart villages will be done drawing its future strategy which is expected to improve the quality of services provided by the company next September. Khalil also gave hints on reversing Raya’s previous decision to sell its shares in Smart Villages.
Smart Villages Development & Management Company was founded in August 2001 as public-private partnership that aims to establish the biggest chain of business complexes in Egypt.
Since its inception, the company attained an investment volume of 10 billion Egyptian pounds. Based on 651 feddans, Smart Villages Development & Management Company has 72 buildings, more than 165 global and local companies in addition to 14 local and global banks and 10 organizations and governmental bodies.
