Prayers of Tranquility for a Better World

In a world stained with violence, instability and divisions, Muslim women gathered to attend the first day of Ramadan month’s Tarawih prayers in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. The word taraweeh comes from an Arabic word which means to rest and relax. Night prayers in Ramadan are a blessing, and one should not argue about this fine point. Scholars have regarded the collective offerings of the tarawih prayer as a compulsory sunnah.
