Employees at the Public Transportation Authority have requested an incentive of 200% instead of joining the Ministry of Transport.

Workers at the garage of Imbaba, emphasized that 80% of their demands relating to increasing the end of service gratuity up to 32 months have been met . They also pointed out that the value of meal allowance has increased to EGP 250, the same like transport workers in Alexandria, in addition to increasing the salary increment up to 7%, instead of 3%, starting from July.

Tareq al-Baheiry, spokesman for the Independent Syndicate of Public Transport Authority Workers, has held a meeting today with the chairmen of the Transportation Authority at the dissolved People’s Assembly and a delegation of workers, with aim of discussing their demands and reaching a solution instead of having a strike during school days.

35 drivers and a conductor at the Public Transportation Authority have resumed their set-in for  the third consecutive day before the the Authority’s headquarter in Nasr City. They protested against arbitrary transferring one of their colleagues and demanded merging the Authority with the Ministry of Transport instead of being supervised by the governorate of Cairo.

Protestors have also threatened that they will hold an open labor strike during the first days of school, in case that their demand regarding merging the Authority with the Ministry was not fulfilled.
