US President Barack Obama and Afghan President Hamid Karzai early Wednesday signed a long-term strategic partnership that outlines cooperation between the two countries after the 2014 withdrawal of NATO and allied forces.
The two leaders met at the Presidential Palace in the capital Kabul, officials said, dpa reported.
A US Embassy official and a senior Afghan official confirmed the signing.
“We can confirm that President Obama signed the strategic partnership agreement between Afghanistan and the US,” a spokesman for the US Embassy in Kabul told dpa.
