No Disputes Over TE Share Sale To Vodafone Egypt To Grant Integrated License

Dr. Amr Badawi, CEO of National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA), has asserted that selling Telecom Egypt’s (TE) share from Vodafone Egypt worth about 45% does not come within the dispute points which the company eyes to complete it before granting (TE) the integrated operator license.

Badawi added to Amwal Al Ghad that Telecom Egypt (TE) and the three mobile phone operators in the market are facing six main problems which should be finalized them before granting the license regarding the service quality.

Badawi has emphasized that according to the law (TE) is ongoing to support the internet companies operating in (ICT) sector in return for providing fixed internet services, pointing to the need to halt the company’s supporting for internet providers, as it competes with other companies especially after the three mobile phone operators seize the fixed internet companies.

Badawi has emphasized that the current dilemma between the internet companies and TE Data concerning ‘online transfer customers’ is one of the basic problems which NTRA is seeking to end it.

Moreover, Badawi has explained that (NTRA) does not reach for a solution till now regarding its acquisition of customers, noting that the current dilemma is one of monopolistic practices which is doing by (TE).

Badawi has further pointed out that the linkages between TE and Etisalat Egypt is one of the outstanding problems between the two companies and it must be solved as soon as possible, asserting that TE’s share in Vodafone Egypt that estimated with 45% from the company’s share does not come as a dispute points that NTRA aims to solve.
