Nestle’s bottled water business is planning to double its investments in Egypt in the next five years, Nestle Waters Middle East’s top executive said on Wednesday.
“We plan to inject more than 1 billion Egyptian pounds ($62 million) in Egypt, so our investments in water business in the country would reach around 2 billion pounds by 2025,” Nestle’s MENA regional manager Rasem Dabbas told Amwal Al Ghad.
The money will go for adding more production lines and building a new factory, Dabbas said.
Nestle Waters’ investments in Egypt registered around 1 billion pounds in the past six years for the renovation of its factory in Banha, 48 km North of Cairo, he added.
“Egypt is one of Nestle’s biggest markets as evidenced by the volume of our investments in this country, mainly in the groundwater business.”
“We already have one of the key water factories in Egypt, in Kafr Al Arbain (Banha) where the latest packaging and purification technologies are used.”
“Our short-term strategy includes investing more than 200 million pounds by next year to add a new production line in our Kafr Al Arbain factory.”
The number of workers hired for permanent jobs at Nestle Waters Egypt is currently 1,485 in addition to around 5,000 indirect jobs for more workers, Dabbas said.
