Twitter CEO Elon Musk revealed on Tuesday details about new features on Twitter including calls and encrypted messaging.
Last year, Musk signaled to plans of “Twitter 2.0 The Everything App”, which he said would have new features like encrypted direct messages (DMs), long form tweets and payments.
“Coming soon will be voice and video chat from your handle to anyone on this platform, so you can talk to people anywhere in the world without giving them your phone number,” said Musk on Tuesday.
The new call feature will bring to Twitter micro-blogging platform which will match Meta’s other applications such as Facebook and Instagram.
Musk said that encrypted direct message will be available by Wednesday, but did not mention whether calls will be encrypted or not.
Twitter also announced this week that it will start a cleansing process and will remove and archive accounts that have been inactive for several years.
