Mobinil in collaboration with Orange labs launched an awareness campaign supported by Diabetes & Ramadan International Alliance (DAR) during the holy month of Ramadan utilizing mobile technology to increase awareness for diabetes and support patients experience safe fasting.
Through M-Dar campaign, Mobinil sent bulk sms to its customers & potential diabetics in major Egyptian cities enclosing the link for DAR’s website (mob.daralliance.org) that aims to provide better understanding for the best way to manage diabetes during Ramadan and educate customers and patients on how to fast Ramadan safely. Mobinil will further support DAR’s initiative by publicizing their website through its social media pages & through a PR campaign to increase public awareness.
Mobinil’s VP Commercial, Mr. Ashraf Halim commented “We are pleased to be the first mobile operator in Egypt that has utilized its network, resources and mobile applications to support diabetes patients in Egypt. Furthermore, this project is considered one of Mobinil’s ongoing social responsibility projects and a good addition to our current m-Health portfolio”.
On this occasion Dr. Mohamed Hassanein, MDAR’s President&a Diabetes Consultant in Britain stated that “ millions of Muslims with diabetes are passionate about fasting Ramadan. The role of the medical profession is to help our patients experience a safe Ramadan noting that Egypt is the 8th country in diabetes prevalence with 10% of population are diabetics and are at high risk because of their Ramadan eating habits. Meanwhile, DAR International Alliance is proud to collaborate with Mobinil on this project that aims to reach people with diabetes with ease using modern technology to help them achieve their target of safe fasting during Ramadan”.
