Mobinil Seizes 33% of Mobile Internet In Egypt

Egyptian Company for Mobile Services (Mobinil) – (EMOB.CA)has achieved a controlling rate of 33% of Egypt’s mobile internet market.

Ashraf Halim, Vice President Commercial of Mobinil, said the company is seizing third of the mobile internet market among the other mobile operators which provide mobile internet service.

“Mobinil will focus more on the sectors of voice calls and mobile internet services within the coming period.” Halim told Amwal Al Ghad

“Most of the users still use the mobile phones as the number of smart phone users in Egypt ranges between 15% and 20%.”  

According to Telecommunication Ministry’s estimates till the end of last April, the number of internet users via mobile has hit around 11.5 million , in which 3.9 million are Mobinil subscribers.

Elsewhere, Halim stated that Mobinil is still negotiating with the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) on the license fees of setting up a gateway to route international calls so as to provide services directly to its own customers in Egypt. Mobinil also seeks to obtain Fiber Optic cable systems license.
