Microsoft Corp. MSFT +0.34% is expected to announce a major restructuring of the company on Thursday, AllThingsDigital reported Monday, citing “numerous sources close to the situation.”
The report said the exact timing of the announcement could change, though it is due out this week. The company’s Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer had signaled in a letter to shareholders last fall that he intended to reorganize the company, with the new structure expected to focus on services – or software – and devices, both in the consumer and business sectors, the report said.
