MEP Oman 2012 and IMTEX Oman 2012 – twin trade events that spotlight the growing prowess of Mechanical-Electrical-Plumbing service providers as well as the machinery, tools, hardware and equipment industry – opened here yesterday, heralding the promise of a vibrant era of prosperity for these key sectors.
His Excellency Ahmed Sulaiman Saleh al Maimani, Under-Secretary of Ministry of Commerce and Industry , Administrative & Financial and Regional Affairs, led a number of dignitaries and guests at the formal inauguration of the twin events.
First to be unveiled was MEP Oman 2012, a first-ever forum on the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) services industry, which began at the Golden Tulip Seeb. Next, proceeding to the adjoining Oman International Exhibition Centre, the Chief Guest cut a ceremonial ribbon to declare open IMTEX 2012, the Sultanate’s premier showcase on machinery, tools, hardware and equipment.
Organised by specialist trade fair and conference firm Global Exhibitions & Conferences (GEC), MEP Oman and IMTEX Oman 2012 are being held under the patronage of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry . Also extending their support for the events is an array of prominent public sector organizations and professional institutions, notably the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Ashrae Falcon Chapter, AHK German Industry and Commerce, and Industrial Innovation Centre.
Staged concurrently, MEP Oman and IMTEX 2012 provide a unique platform for the convergence of all of the key contractors, equipment manufacturers and other service providers that together form an integral part of the Sultanate’s multibillion dollar construction industry.
Focusing on the theme, ‘Exploring and improving best practice implementation of MEP projects in Oman’, the two-day forum will deliberate on a broad spectrum of technological and operational issues critical to the goal of meeting the accelerated and increasingly complex demands of the construction industry.
More than 100 key decision-makers and MEP professionals representing a wide cross-section of government ministries, public sector organizations, embassies, private contractors and training service providers, are attending the proceedings. Taking part in the conference are officials and executives from the Ministry of Civil Service, Ministry of Commerce & Industry , Ministry of Education, Ministry of Environment & Climate Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Heritage & Culture, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Sports Affairs, Ministry of Tourism, Muscat Municipality, Royal Court Affairs, Tender Board, Higher College of Technology, Omran, US Embassy, Sri Lankan Embassy, Teejan Equipment LLC, Al Khalili Electrical LLC, Arabian Industries LLC, Bahwan Engineering Co LLC, and Drake & Skull International LLC.
As is expected of trade shows of such high calibre, both events have attracted robust sponsorship interest. The main sponsors are Techno Plastic Industry (Platinum), MultiTech Contracting LLC (Gold), and Techs International and Teejan Equipment LLC (Silver).
IMTEX Oman 2012, on the other hand, has been conceived as a comprehensive showcase of industrial machinery, tools, equipment and hardware that are imperative to the successful implementation of construction and industrial ventures. Unmatched in scope and diversity, the exhibition features a staggering array of product and equipment brands that cater to every conceivable need – big and small – of the contracting sector.
As many as 103 local, regional and international companies are exhibiting their products and services during the two-day fair, making it a must-attend event for contractors and service providers eager to stay abreast of new trends and advances in this rapidly evolving sector.
Merchandise on display includes electrical products, machine parts, cables, control equipment, generator sets, pollution control systems, construction tools, cleaning machinery, drilling machinery, moulding machinery and cranes.
